Margaret Nielsen
I moved to Drumheller four years ago, after living for many years in a small community on the Queen Charlotte Islands where I was an active volunteer in many organizations. I am pleased to have the opportunity to become a volunteer in my new community. I have had a life-long association with libraries. When I was a teenager my mother used to sign out “Adult” books for me, as there was an age restriction on what could be borrowed from the library is the small town where I grew up. She went on to become the Librarian of theta library. I am employed part-time as a Pharmacy Technician at the Drumheller Health Centre. My husband is Gerry, and we have two married children – a son in Edmonton and a daughter in Calgary. |

He is pleased for the opportunity to serve on the Library Board, and is looking forward to helping shape the future course of the library. Nelson currently works as both a real estate associate as well as a mortgage broker. Besides, reading, he enjoys the occasional round of golf or game of tennis. He started serving on the Board in January 2009. |

John Serkiz
John has been a member of the Board since 2010. " I arrived in Drumheller in the summer of 2009 from the east coast, and have not stopped being "wowed" by both the beauty of the geography and the kindness of the locals. As a speech language pathologist by training, I am a strong believer in the value of literacy for life success. The sooner the "power of reading" is discovered by one person to open learning, imagination, and the world; the community we share becomes a richer place for all. For a community the size of Drumheller we are amazingly fortunate not only to have the library we do, but also the incredible staff dedicated to making the library environment welcoming to all." |
