Library Information

The Drumheller Public Library is a member of the Marigold Library System, The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC), and The Alberta Library (TAL). Membership in The Alberta Library allows cardholders to use many libraries across the province at no extra charge.

Library Materials

Please bring your library card with you every time you visit the library. It may be used to check out a wide variety of library materials including:

  • Books (over 30,000 volumes in our collection)
  • Magazines
  • Audio Cassettes and CDs
  • Videos, DVDs, MP3s
  • Stars Collection (Literacy and English as a Second Language materials)
  • Books in Languages other than English


We also have:

  • OPAC (Online Public Access Computers) - access to 153 libraries on TRAC
  • Microfilms (back issues of local papers to 1914)
  • Fax & Photocopier Service
  • Reference collection
  • Library tours by appointment for groups of all ages

  • Shut-in service available by request (call 823-5382)
  • Public use computers & typewriters - please call 823-5382 to reserve time.
  • Merlin Reader for low vision users
  • Adaptive Technology Station for users with multiple challenges
  • Gallery for Travelling Exhibitions and other artists
  • Relaxation Station designed by Youth Group

Volunteers are valued helpers, coming in one hour or more per week. Please ask us if you are interested.

Youth (to age 18), whose home library is Drumheller, can claim a free card as a gift from the Drumheller Library Society.


Special Notes

  • Overdue Holds: Please pick up or cancel your Hold by its Due Date (found in Your Account). $2 is charged for each item not picked up or cancelled.
  • There are fees for loss, damage and items returned late.
  • A $20 Collection Fee is added to an unpaid account sent to the collection agency.
  • When returning library materials, please put them in a plastic bag (handles tied) to protect them. Please place moderately loaded bags in the book chute.
  • This is your Library and we welcome your suggestions.
